Just down the block from historic NYC culinary destination, Katz’s Delicatessen - and the more recently famed NYC blowout destination - Drybar! - Assembly New York is likewise a must-stop locale on the storied Lower East Side.
Founded by former contemporary art gallerist, Greg Armas, in 2008, Assembly has since expanded to a bi-costal port of call for the style-conscious set, and an in-house brand for urbanites seeking streamlined, modern pieces. Steps away from the crowds, chaos, and crosstown traffic of East Houston Street, Assembly’s spacious LES outpost offers a calm yet energizing retail atmosphere that welcomes you to take your time, browse, get inspired, and try on new styles in their ample fitting rooms.

While the Assembly label offers a range of sleek, minimalist staples for both men and women (made in New York!), the store also features a smart mix of current brands with cult followings: slinky knits from PH5, Susan Alexandra’s unmistakable beaded bags, flirty frocks by Solace London, and artful pieces from recent breakout star designers Collina Strada and Sandy Liang. Assembly’s vintage goods are also so very, very good: nearly new D&G? How about a perfectly worn-in Revillon fur and suede cropped jacket? (yes … yes again …)
Bring your roomiest reusable shopping tote the next time you’re in the neighborhood - chances are, you’ll be taking home more than a few new wardrobe favorites from this downtown retail destination.
