Cottoncake

Ahhh. Shopping for cute clothes and eating borderline-dessert foods for brunch. Our two favorite activities. Cottoncake is one part lifestyle boutique and one part cozy cafe - it's the concept store that Amsterdam never knew it needed.

           

The quaint De Pijp cubbyhole was founded in 2012 by best-friend duo Jorinde Westhoff and Tessa van Herwijen who were considered "pretty pioneering” at the time in the evolution of the boutique-cafe hybrid. Feminine and dainty with whitewashed brick walls, Parisian-style cafe tables, and fresh lavender housed in vintage glassware and mason jars, the store itself looks like it came straight off your favorite blogger’s Instagram feed. Stocking a refined selection of classic clothing, thoughtful accessories, and of course, lots and lots of homemade cake, it’s pretty hard not to like this place.

When it comes to clothing, soft, romantic vibes are abundant. Structured dark-wash denim, oatmeal-colored cashmere sweaters, and neutral-toned midi dresses and trench coats are year-round staples in their curation. Dreamy necklaces, gold hoop earrings, and a simple selection of scarves are scattered throughout the cozy sales floor, adding the perfect minimalistic touch to any ensemble.

Sure, the clothes are great, but the grace notes that really make Cottoncake sing are the scrumptious baked goods and mouth-watering cappuccinos. From organic golden tumeric-ginger lattes and hearty New York-style waffles to walnut banana bread, there’s something to please every palette. Can you really think of anything better than a Sunday morning shopping trip with the girls followed by avocado toast and a round (or three) of mimosas? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
