Cutting-edge clothing shop? Check. Artisan coffee shop? Check. In-house art gallery? Check. Random motorcycle decor? Definitely check (but that’s kind of their trademark). Established in 2012 and located in the heart of Venice, Deus Ex Machina is LA’s “Emporium of PostModern Activities” and just the quirky marketplace the city needed. Mysterious, funky, with a hint of sexy, it’s truly a retail catch-all.

There are very few places on earth where you can get your paws on a hand-shaped surfboard, embellished leather jacket, or custom-built motorcycle all alongside an oat milk latte. Deus Ex Machina is one of those unicorns. Their product offering covers all the bases from apparel to appetizers, bikes to binoculars, sweatshirts to skateboards. Simply stated, you could pretty much get by for the rest of your life exclusively shopping at Deus Ex Machina.
An oasis of activity, stepping into the expansive Venice Boulevard storefront is a sensory overload in the best way possible. Posters and prints cover the exposed brick walls, hats hang off weathered surfboards straight from the beaches of Bali, and perfectly-polished Harley Davidson’s litter the store. When you’re done perusing their selection of edgy apparel and grunge-chic decor, step over to the Deus Cafe for one of their world famous sandwiches and something to sip. And if it couldn’t get any more “Los Angeles”, they even have organic, environmentally friendly, corn-based straws. Plus free parking and strong WiFi? How could we ask for anything more?
