What comes to mind when you think of oysters? Memories of slurping down the cocktail-sauce-drenched appetizer last time you visited your in-laws in Cape Cod? Well, think again. Grit & Grace Studio on King Street is the coastal-chic gift company that makes everything from necklaces to salt and pepper wells out of, you guessed it….oyster shells.
Stepping into the cozy King street storefront is like stepping into an HGTV after-photo. Periwinkle blue and gold shell-print walls, nautical accents, a porch with hanging rope chairs, and a plant garden in a repurposed claw-foot bathtub. It's okay if you have to pick your jaw up off the ground, you're not alone.

Not to mention, they carry just about every gift you would ever need to buy for anyone….or yourself, no judgement here. Sea glass necklace? Check. Oyster napkin rings? Yes ma'am. Oh, and that side table in your foyer is just begging to have a Frida Kahlo painted oyster shell sitting on it.
The first image that comes to mind when you look at the ever-so-chic founder, Rachel Gordon, is probably not someone schlepping around in salty, smelly marine life. However, this retail Mother Teresa is single-handedly helping restore our natural breakwaters by replenishing oyster shells. So go ahead, buy that beaded pendant, you're basically doing charity work.
While we’re still not sure how they manage to make old, salty shells look so sophisticated, when it's this cute, you just don’t ask questions. With affordable prices, a unique selection, and impossibly elegant interiors, you’ll want to run, not walk, down to Grit & Grace Studio on King Street. The world is your oyster :)
