Hutspot

As far as we know, there’s really only one place in Amsterdam where you can fill your wardrobe with timeless fashion finds, get some work done over an an oat milk cappachino, guzzle artisan beers and munch on unconventional hor d'oeuvres at night, and get a much-needed haircut. What is this too-good-to-be-true, everything-in-one place you may ask? Meet Hutspot.

           

Founded in 2012 by three childhood friends who noticed a gap in the market for a spot that stocked both upcoming brands and artists’ work, Hutspot considers itself much more than just a store, it’s a “creative platform.” Started out as a pop-up shop in the Utrechsestraat, Hutspot has since expanded to 8 full-blown concept shops across the city and gained a reputation as one of Amsterdam’s most innovative retail experiences.

Everything about Hutspot is cool, but not too cool that it’s inaccessible. Inside their multi-story flagship in De Pijp you’ll come across an unexpected juxtaposition of timelessly classic items and anything but ordinary knick knacks and accessories. Ketchup made from leftover tomatoes by The Ketchup Project, sustainable wall paint by Fairf, and skill shaped candles by Stoned are stocked right alongside organic boxer shorts by A-dam and traditional white buttons from their own private label.

We don’t exactly know how they make an all-white, concrete-floor, showroom look so chic, but when it comes to perfecting the ultra-modern/minimalist aesthetic, Hutspot hits the nail on the head. If you want to find us, we’ll be sipping turmeric lattes and skimming through asparagus-printed greeting cards and rose-gold stainless-steel smoothie straws in the back.
