L'Eclaireur

Founded more than 40 years ago, L'Éclaireur has since established itself as one of the ultimate purveyors of cool. Seeking to bring fashion, design, art, and lifestyle together under one roof, the concept store boasts museum-like interiors and an inclusive roster of designers from all over the world. With four locations in Paris and one in Los Angeles, it more than stacks up against other design-forward boutiques.

           

Spanning multiple rooms, each grounded with polished concrete floors, it feels like stepping into another world. Starting with the walls, they’re plastered with a selection of various materials cut into squares and painted the same shade of greyish white. Screens are embedded into the massive collage and light up with graphic, colorful scenes. An amorphous white couch holds court in one area of the store next to a few freestanding racks of clothes, while in another, a fountain-like sculpture made of raw wood scraps spouts over black tables displaying various accessories. Mannequins dressed in Anne Demeulemeester, Marine Serre, and Junya Watanabe stand guard throughout, while a giant skylight gives the space a supernatural glow.

The clothing and accessories are equally heavenly. Think a black faux leather trench by Koche, a striped robe-like silk dress by Monse, asymmetrical diaphanous skirts by Marc le Bihan, a twisted red velvet bag by Y/Project, colorful padded down jackets by Off-White, and white leather sneakers with melted-looking soles by Carol Christian Poell. Offering closet staples and eccentric specialty finds alike, as well as all of the hottest new handbags, shoes, and sunglasses, L'Éclaireur is a true Mecca for those who revel in the creative and the chic.
