It would take a great deal of willpower to stroll by the iconic cherry-red Fiat parked outside Merci and not want to take a peek inside. Located in the Le Marais and housed in an elaborately reconfigured 19th-century fabric factory, Merci isn’t just a landmark in the Paris shopping scene, it is the Paris shopping scene.

Founded by Marie-France Cohen over a decade ago, stepping into Merci feels slightly like entering an editorial fantasy. Whether you enter though the literary cafe and submerge yourself into the impressive collection of hardcover books or through the courtyard into the breathtaking main hall, you’re sure to find something that peaks your interest within seconds of browsing.

Boasting 3 stories of fashion, furniture, accessories, homeware, and gifts both vintage and modern, Merci effortlessly blends everyday essentials with one-of-a-kind finds. We’ve got our eye on some custom abstract art prints by Pascale Risbourg, a pair of Paraboot duck boots, and deep violet linen bedsheets, alongside well, the list is too long. And the best part of all? The donate a hefty chunk of their profits to charity. So go ahead, buy that cashmere jumper. You’re basically doing charity work.

With high vaulted ceilings, contemporary lighting fixtures, and a courtyard that challenges Versailles, Merci is somewhat of an architectural dream. Though sprawling, the store itself is far from overwhelming, and with the help of their friendly sales associates, shopping at Merci is like a breath of fresh air from the all-to-common snootiness of a typical Parisian shop.
