When Alghero-born designer Antonio Marras decided to take a risk on an old abandoned workshop and open up a concept boutique, he had no idea that it would quickly become one of the area's top retail destinations. One part clothing store, one part art gallery, Nonostante Marras is a beacon of style ingenuity in Milan’s crowded fashion scene.

         

Housed in via Cola di Rienzo, just outside of Milan’s fashion quarter, the expansive showroom is the epitome of industrial-chic. Crystal chandeliers and velvet armchairs provide the perfect juxtaposition to the unfinished-concrete walls and floors while vintage lamps are balanced with super-size contemporary murals. All together, this unique conglomeration of quirky bits and bobs provides the perfect backdrop for Antonio Marras’s stunning designs.

Its colorful range of apparel is made up of exclusive designs by Antonio Marras. Patchwork boxy-shaped midi dresses, Japanese-print bomber jackets, and tailored tartan trousers are just a handful of highlights from his extensive offering. While the clothing selection certainly holds its own, their curation of rare books, paintings by local artists, artisan ceramics, and vintage furniture is equally thrilling. Splurge on a floral-print overcoat for 1,320 euros or pick up a hand-printed greeting card for just a few.

A quiet oasis of clothing, collectibles, and culture, Nonostante Marras provides a much needed element of shabby-chic spunk to the bustling city. Due to its unconventional atmosphere, steady flow of can’t-find-it-anywhere-else couture, and ever changing offering of knick knacks, Nonostante Marras is a worthy addition to any girl’s boutique-hopping rotation.
