Otte

Having first opened its doors back in 1999 at a mini-mall in deep Williamsburg, Otte is no newcomer in the New York retail scene. Now located smack-dab in the heart of the city's trendiest neighborhood, the West Village, Otte supplies the perfect mix of understated luxury and tasteful spunk to the hipster headquarters that is Greenwich Ave.

         

When founder Kay Lee ventures out on buying trips, she doesn’t take any shortcuts. Pulling from travel excursions through Marrakech, Paris, Tokyo, and beyond, each piece is hand-selected by eagle-eye fashion scout Kay herself. And considering the pieces you’re eyeing at Otte have probably come from a minuscule startup halfway across the world, you can rest assured no other girl at your 8:00pm Dante reservation will be wearing the same thing.

Sure, they carry the likes of Comme des Garcons, See by Chloe, and Alexander Wang (all predictable for a boutique), but their carefully curated dash of newcomer names thrown in like Beau Soleil, Garnish, and Heimstone are what really makes Otte special. Some immediate standouts from their current lineup include a pair of tie-dye crew socks from By My Grace ($38), a wine-colored carpet clutch from Lalla ($78), and an electric-pink Grateful Dead band tee from Madeworn ($161).

Whether you’re shopping for a classic Canada Goose coat for cold New York nights, a fresh pair of sneaks for your morning commute, or just a hand-stitched floral face mask for….well, just about any occasion these days, Otte probably has exactly what you’re looking for and a whole lot of things you weren't looking for ;)
