Thanx God I'm a VIP

When you hear the word “thrift shop”, Chanel probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But then again, Thanx God I'm a V.I.P is far from your traditional charity store. In fact, its offering is closer to that of the Galeries Lafayette than many of the other luxury boutiques in Paris. We've never seen “second-hand” looks so chic.

           

Founded in 1994 by Sylvie Chateigner, we can confidently say that Thanx God I’m a V.I.P is the most well respected luxury consignment store in all of Paris. And considering this is the city that sets the tone for haute couture year after year, that's a pretty impressive claim to fame. Stocking the best vintage finds from the most prestigious names in fashion like Burberry, Hermes, Saint Laurent, and more, flipping through its racks feel comparable to entering the costume closet of your favorite old Hollywood movie.

Upon entering the quaint storefront just a stone's throw away from Place de la Republique, you may initially think you've entered the wrong shop. Dimly-lit, rather small, and bursting at the seams with color, it isn't exactly the expected luxury experience.  However, it's quirky, mysterious, and its little bit of gritty pizzazz is what makes this place so special. A fashion treasure hunt, every day is a brand new experience with a new set of discoveries waiting to be uncovered.

While you may have to do a little digging, we can count on one hand the number of stores that sell Dior for under 100 euros. Attracting a clientele of international A-listers, don't be surprised if you find yourself sifting through sundresses next to Gisele or trying on houndstooth bucket hats with Beyonce.
