Capturing peak Americana style within a fittingly rugged space, Vintage55 is an anomaly when it comes to Milanese fashion haunts. Founded by industry mogul Davide De Giglio back in 1997, the boutique celebrates Anglo-American culture and is inspired by everything from music and film to the military and the Wild West. Mostly carrying men’s offerings, with some women’s styles mixed in, including truly retro garments and newly made vintage-inspired styles, the shop is worth paying a visit to if graphic tees, motorcycle jackets, and distressed denim strike your fancy.

Enter the space, which is marked with a giant light-up Vintage55 sign, and you might feel like you’ve been transported back in time. There is wood everywhere—on the floors, grounding the display tables, on the walls—and rickety-looking wooden shelving covers an entire expansive wall. Painted in deep, dark hues like black and olive green, the space might almost feel cave-like if it wasn’t for the shop’s large front windows that allow for plenty of natural light to seep in. On its shelves rest classic symbols of American culture; think an Evel Knievel helmet, old film cameras, and worn figurines. Part antiques store, part clothing retailer, Vintage55 is an experience in itself.

The interesting part about shopping here is that some of what you’ll buy clothing-wise might be new. Vintage55 has their own brand of goods inspired by retro styles but made today, from washed out tees and comfy flannels to double breasted vests and denim shorts. They use Japanese denim, Barbados cottons, Indian natural dyes, Scottish wool, and Italian leather, meaning you can expect high quality. Naturally, the boutique also carries a selection of items that are truly vintage—think bandanas, leather jackets, and denim—which they’ll rehabilitate when needed to ensure they’re in perfect condition.

Go get your nostalgia on.
