Until 2013, a place where you could pick up a bottle of olive oil, a new cashmere sweater, some organic dog treats, and a gift for a baby shower all in one stop didn't exist in Nashville. So, to fill that void, White’s Mercantile was born. The creative brainchild of singer-songwriter Holly Williams, White’s Mercantile calls itself “a general store for the modern tastemaker” and it’s exactly the kind of shop we never knew we needed.

While White’s now boasts seven locations across the southeast (with more on the way!) it started out as an old gas station revitalized by Holly herself. Located in the growing 12 South area, what you’ll find inside will surprise you given the otherwise unassuming little blue storefront. Pimped out with vintage rugs, antique furniture, and all things rustic-chic, the store itself is capital-C Charming.
Sure, it’s been coined a “general store”, but the shop’s eccentric offering is far from what you’ll find at your local Home Depot. Artisan groceries, organic beauty products, to-die-for homeware, and a gift selection that is pretty much guaranteed to thrill just about anyone on your list, all at reasonable prices. Not to mention, from the Bloody Mary mixes to the rose-gold candlewick trimmers, to the hand-stitched tea towels, each and every piece looks straight off the pages of Southern Living.
Whether you’re popping in for a little treat-yo-self tee shirt, the perfect cookbook for a foodie friend, or just a dose of southern hospitality from their friendly staff, few have regretted a little shopping excursion at White’s Mercantile.
